Puss in Boots is the next take chapter in DreamWorks Shrek saga. It is about the naughty cat, Puss in Boots who is on the run for “stealing”. However, he makes his return in hopes of finding the magic beans. During this trip, he bumps into an old friend who isn’t the changed person he says he is. The adventure follows Puss, his new love interest Miss Soft paws and his ‘brother’ Humpty Dumpy. The trio travel in search of the beans, only to find themselves back in trouble yet again. Can the trio survive and pull through, or will Puss fall in a trap once more?

This movie in my opinion was better than Shrek; just based on the fact that it was more family friendly. DreamWorks either must have skipped a step or at the realized that Shrek has some humor that was good for kids. Either way, I give major kudos to the writers for the movie. As a whole, I really liked it from everything between the animations to the dialog. The team did an outstanding job with it and that makes me so happy. I was concerned that it was going to have some inappropriate humor in it. Now I should move past that and talk about the movie itself. I loved it with all my heart. Seeing Puss and his new love interest was worth the money alone. He seemed to be so sure of himself, yet he got the surprise of his life when he realize this savvy robber was a girl cat! His charms switched gear so fast, that it was hard not to burst out laughing. They got a cat’s personality down pat and I love that.The fact that Puss did not believe a girl cat could be as feisty as about as close to my cat as they could get. However, they also made him have a heart of gold. Heck, he hated to hurt his mother. It was a sweet touch that made me and I am sure most cat owners pleased. How many movies make cats heroes? Not many at all, most movies make cats bad. It was a very nice change of pace in my opinion, just based on the fact that Puss and Miss Softpaws are heroes.

The plot was easy to follow and filled with laughs for all ages. If you ever owned a cat in your life, you will be amused at just how well they portrayed a feline. The way the story unravels is good and keeps you on your toes. You never know what is coming next in the movie, which makes it a lot of fun to watch. The way they make certain characters act help give it a different spin from our favorite fairy tale creatures that we know. It adds character to the movie and also shows that it is very much by the same team as Shrek. However, I am glad that they did make it very much its own. The only returning character from Shrek was Puss himself, so it helped make the movie much of its own.

My favorite character has to be Puss. Just the fact that he freaked out when he met Miss Soft Paws was just too cute. He was so quick to say he was sorry and he flirted with her. He truly made it clear that he was much more than his reputation around town. Or when he uses his charm for his benefit. Those sweet, big eyes filled with kitty charm was enough to break anyone’s heart. They really worked hard to show that and those eyes at the guard proved it. I also loved Humpty Dumpy, he was pretty funny. However, I will say that I do think he overreacted some of the time. But I suppose that is what helped make him so fun to watch. The way he told the history of Puss leaving him behind was just too much. Despite that, he did keep it pretty light-hearted for the most part.

The animation was excellent. The way they designed it and made all of the characters facial expressions was way above and beyond. I really enjoyed the detail that was put into it. However, I only watched the 2D-so I cannot say how great the 3D was. I usually prefer 2D anyway since it is better for the eyes. But I can assume that in 3D the animation had to be twice as great.

As I stated earlier, this movie is one of the more recent family friendly one. I really liked it a lot for that. I think it is ideal for any age and I love that. The fact that it appeals to all ages is great and a smart move for the studio to make. I am hoping for sequel very soon. I think that would be the best choice that they can make and it does seem like it is doing well in terms of turn out.

Now for my ranting, I give it a 5 stars. That is a rare rating for me to give, so let that be a guide to you.
